A bit cliched, this one. Again, this hasn’t had the black-and-white treatment yet. Comments welcomed.
If you’d like to see a portfolio of my work, please go to http://photos.vfxy.com/photoblogs/1652 . I’d welcome any votes too!
I’ve started compiling a potential theme for my next exhibition – “London Red”. Basically the idea is that I shoot topics that have the very London-iconic “signal red” colour in them – and then convert all the photo except the red into black and white. This makes the red really stand out. I’ve thought of a number of ideas for photos (London buses, telephone boxes, post boxes, etc.) but would welcome any more suggestions.
This is a shot taken today – without the black-and-white treatment…..
I bought a couple of photos in Covent Garden just before Christmas – of red London buses and phone boxes on black and white backgrounds. Probably end up on the wall in our downstairs loo as they go with the red colour scheme….
I decided to give it a try myself – on one of my old shots of a phone box. Here’s my effort….
Lovely sunny day in SE England today, so the tressillians decided to trip out into the Kent countryside. This is a shot from the garden of Chartwell House (residence of Winston Churchill) in the late afternoon (actually 3 o’clock). Not my best shot, I know, as I forgot my camera was set to 1,600 ISO (therefore grainy pictures) and my sensor needs a good clean (therefore black smudges on the picture). Never mind – I thought the sky looked good – so I under exposed the shot by almost 2 stops to capture the drama.
